Prairieville is a census-designated place in Ascension Parish, Louisiana, United States. It is south of Baton Rouge and north of Gonzales. Prairieville is an expanding bedroom suburb of Baton Rouge. Its name is derived from the once plentiful pastures and prairies that were visible from Highway 73 (Jefferson Hwy.) and Airline Highway, which is now covered with development. Prairieville started off as a quiet community with few people.

Animal Hospital in Prairieville Louisiana
We have been bringing our little dog, Chubacca, to the Prairieville Animal Hospital for several years under the care of Dr. Travis Procell. This past Friday, March 3, 2023 we had to put our precious little 10 year old dog to sleep. Dr. Procell, then and in the past, has been an excellent veterinarian who not only explains your pet’s health issues very well but also displays great compassion. When we had to put our little dog to sleep, Dr. Procell and the staff were so very kind and explained the process to us to be sure we understood and if we had any questions. As difficult as the decision had been it was reassuring to know that our little pup never felt any pain and was handled with such gentleness. The entire staff is wonderful, and my husband and I highly recommend Prairieville Animal Hospital for your pet’s health care.

Absolutely love the entire staff. Our vet is Dr. Heather Harkins and she is amazing. Everyone is so helpful and courteous when we call or go there. Their kennel service is great.
